Our Week 7 review

Some weeks we have a really good think about how the week went for us. We use our thinking hats to make sure we cover all the bases!

Group work!

Becaseu we have been doing quite a lot of group work recently we decided that it would be a really good idea to think about what makes a group work well together.

To be an effective group member you need to...

be a good listener, to be able to stay on task, ask questions if you don't understand, make sure everyone has a turn, respect other people's ideas.

Ms Little took these pictures of us working in groups and then we looked at them and had a chat about which groups looked like they were going well and which groups looked as if they weren't going so well. What do you think?

Ms Little is really proud of the great thinking we did about this!

OUr Goal for the week

This week we are learning to respect others by using manners.

We will do this by... Waiting our turn, saying "please" and thank you, open doors for other people, .ask if you want to go somewhere or do something and say' excuse me'.say "thank you".

We have the power.... to learn!

We have been doing lots of really hard thinking about learning and what it looks like and feels like to be a learner. We have talked about things we might need to help us learn and we all had a hand in designing our learning environment this year!

How do feel when you learn new things?

Welcome back everyone!

Here we all are - what a gorgeous bunch! The new revised version of champion learners in Room 4! We lost a few kids to room 5 but we see them all the time! A HUGE big welcome and 'we are so glad to have you with us' to Brayden. It is like he has always been here!

Here is a copy of the class letter that went home today. Look forward to another exciting year on our blog -remember to keep checking in and leaving us messages!

Kia ora and welcome back to Bradford everyone!

I hope everyone had as good a holiday as I did! I am feeling very ready to be back with the gang in Room 4 – what a good looking bunch they are too, taller, browner, minus a few teeth and even some different hair styles!

A busy term ahead of us yet again… We are going to be discovering all about how “We Have The Power”. The power of Learning is going to be a big focus for us this term. The team in Room 4 have already been putting their ‘architect’ hats on and thinking about how we can set up our room to make sure we have a great learning environment. Keep an eye on our blog (bradfordfantasticfour.blogspot.com) to see what else we have been thinking hard about and trying out!

The regular learning programme will begin next week, while we will still have our reading bags, the reading logs are being replaced by a home learning journal! Keep up that daily reading though, it can be a great way to calm a busy mind before hitting the hay!

It’s a good idea to bring a nice big bottle of water to school to keep on our desk and keep our brains fuelled during the day. It is also a great idea to have a spare change of clothes in your bag, just in case of any accidents!

Any ‘making stuff’ you have at home, magazines or old newspaper are always appreciated along with a box of tissues to keep sniffles tidied away!

I am really looking forward to another fabulous year at Bradford School.

Thinking about Christmas!

We have been using the Thinking Hats to talk about Christmas and what it means to us! Here are some of our ideas.

First of all what is good about Christmas?

You get lots of presents. Jack
I like all the food we eat. Paolo
We get to spend time with our family. Salani



Next we used the black hat to think about the not so good parts of Christmas - or why some people might not look forward to Christmas.

Some people might not be able to afford all the food and presents. Josiah
I don't like helping. Darrin

You might not get yummy food. Charlie
Sometimes you eat too much and get a sore tummy.
You have to clean up the house. Grace



Then we used the green thinking hat to think of what we could to do to help someone on Christmas day or round Christmas time.
