Hi - we are a class of 21 Year 2 and 3 kids from Bradford School in Dunedin. Ms Little is our teacher from Monday to Thursday and then Mrs Mitchell-Bain is our teacher on Fridays. Aren't we lucky?! Two teachers! We hope you enjoy reading our blog to see how much we have been learning.

Sorry for the delay
Sorry for the delay. But Ms Little left us to have her wee baby. Then we got Ms Allison who had a goal for this term to actually blog because she has never done this before! We have had many learning adventures, like a Marae Visit, a puppet week, learning about our safety plus many new art activities. Next time we might even be able to post some photos!

Blowing Bubbles
Yesterday afternoon Room 4 blew a whole lot of beautiful bubbles!
We were thinking hard about what we already know about bubbles. We then thought even harder about what questions we had about bubbles. Then we had to decide the best way to answer our questions - would we ask a scientist or could we do an experiment to find out?
Why do bubbles not fall down quickly?
Who invented the bubble?
How do you make bubble mixture? Do you add water?
Can you pump up a bubble without popping it?
Why are bubbles colourful?
What was the longest time a bubble has not popped?

Swap gender day!
Today at school we had a dress up day. You got to wear the opposite clothes that you normally wear. SO if you are a boy, you could dress up as a girl and if you are a girl, you could dress up as a boy.
Lots of us in Room 4 dressed up. We think we look really funny!
It is to raise money for the Year 6 camp!

Behaving Responsibly.
We think it means
- picking up rubbish
- listening to others and the teacher
- follow instructions
- use nice words with each other
- share things, equipment, sports equipment
- help each other if we are hurt or just need help
- do the right thing
- put things away if we find them
After trying to get videos on - we are giving up for the time being and Ms Little will go home and figure out why it's not working!!!

Our Goal for the week
We decided that we can do this by...
encouraging others by telling them they can do it if they keep trying
saying nice things, things that are positive like "nice job"
find lost things if someone has lost them
offer to play with people who don't have anyone to play with
help people if they fell over or are hurt
compliment each other
help others do hard things in the classroom if they are easy for you
We also talked about how it feels when someone helps you..
When someone helps you, you feel nice, safe, happy, good great, you know you have friends.
And when you help someone else, it makes you feel great too, it is great to feel helpful!

Baa Baa smart sheep show
On tuesday we went to the baa baa smart sheep show at the public libary. We saw The cat in the hat and we saw Geronimo Stiltin. At Baa Baa smart sheep we saw Mr Mitchel and we sang songs. We saw Gill (Our library teacher). She organised the show. At the very end Josiah and Alex got a prize which was a swimming bag with a lollipop and a 3 DVD voucher rental and he got a seed which you plant and when it grows you can use it to heal cuts and bruises. You can also eat the flowers.
Baa baa smart sheep is a story and it is the New Zealand Children's Book awards. We think it is the best story and it should win the prize.

Group work!
Becaseu we have been doing quite a lot of group work recently we decided that it would be a really good idea to think about what makes a group work well together.
To be an effective group member you need to...
be a good listener, to be able to stay on task, ask questions if you don't understand, make sure everyone has a turn, respect other people's ideas.
Ms Little took these pictures of us working in groups and then we looked at them and had a chat about which groups looked like they were going well and which groups looked as if they weren't going so well. What do you think?
Ms Little is really proud of the great thinking we did about this!

OUr Goal for the week
This week we are learning to respect others by using manners.
We will do this by... Waiting our turn, saying "please" and thank you, open doors for other people, .ask if you want to go somewhere or do something and say' excuse me'.say "thank you".
We are looking to see if we are doing these things through the day

We have the power.... to learn!
We thought we should ask you guys....
How do feel when you learn new things?
Welcome back everyone!
Here is a copy of the class letter that went home today. Look forward to another exciting year on our blog -remember to keep checking in and leaving us messages!
Kia ora and welcome back to Bradford everyone!
I hope everyone had as good a holiday as I did! I am feeling very ready to be back with the gang in Room 4 – what a good looking bunch they are too, taller, browner, minus a few teeth and even some different hair styles!
A busy term ahead of us yet again… We are going to be discovering all about how “We Have The Power”. The power of Learning is going to be a big focus for us this term. The team in Room 4 have already been putting their ‘architect’ hats on and thinking about how we can set up our room to make sure we have a great learning environment. Keep an eye on our blog (bradfordfantasticfour.blogspot.com) to see what else we have been thinking hard about and trying out!
The regular learning programme will begin next week, while we will still have our reading bags, the reading logs are being replaced by a home learning journal! Keep up that daily reading though, it can be a great way to calm a busy mind before hitting the hay!
It’s a good idea to bring a nice big bottle of water to school to keep on our desk and keep our brains fuelled during the day. It is also a great idea to have a spare change of clothes in your bag, just in case of any accidents!
Library – Monday
Discovery – Thursday (see attached note)
Any ‘making stuff’ you have at home, magazines or old newspaper are always appreciated along with a box of tissues to keep sniffles tidied away!
I am really looking forward to another fabulous year at Bradford School.
Any questions, Mums and Dads, just come on in and have a chat – or alternatively you can email me on alittle@bradford.school.nz
Ka kite ano,
Anna
